Filipe Afonso is Assistant Professor at Chinese University of Hong Kong. He studied Mathematics at Faculty of Science at Porto University; graduated in architecture at Escola Superior Artística do Porto in 2001. MArch in Genetic Architecture with Honours, under the direction of Karl S. Chu, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, Barcelona.
From 2010 is assistant professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias (Lisbon), assistant professor at Universidade Lusófona do Porto. From 2011 assistant professor at Escola Superior de Artes e Design teaching a course unit on computational design techniques. From 2014 visiting professor at University Innsbruck, Institut fur Gestaltung Studio 1, teaching the Studio Tectonics, and visiting assistant professor at University of Ulsan, School of Architecture. Currently he is assistant professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, School of Architecture.
From 2006 founding partner of Arquitectos Anónimos, extending his previous backgrounds and digital-computational knonwledge on projects to the practice of architecture.
Filipe has realized many projects independently and in collaboration in architecture offices like Fuksas Studio, Rome. Has realized architecture projects in co-authorship, like the recently built Ílhavo Cultural Centre.
